چکیده
Three-dimensional (3D) simulations using the smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method were performed for smooth and stepped spillways with converging walls, in order to evaluate influence of wall deflection step macro-roughness on main non-aerated flow properties. The encompassed a 1V:2H sloping spillway, convergence angles 9.9° 19.3°, discharges corresponding skimming regime, chute. overall development experimental data depths, velocity profiles, standing wave widths was generally well predicted by numerical simulations. However, larger deviations depths velocities observed close upstream end chute pseudo-bottom invert, respectively. results showed that height width waves significantly influenced angle increasing deflection, attenuated vorticity fields, along 3D recirculating vortices line recent findings constant chutes.

Model Investigations of Stepped Spillway
Stepped block protection has considerable potential as a low-cost method for the construction of chute spillways and the protection of embankments from erosion by overtopping flow. Stepped spillways are structurally stable, resistant to water loads and significantly increase the rate of energy dissipation on the spillway face thus eliminating or greatly reducing the need for a large energy diss...

Stepped spillways have become a popular method for handling flood releases. The steps increase significantly the rate of energy dissipation taking place on the spillway face and reduce the size of the required downstream energy dissipation basin. The compatibility of stepped spillways with roller compacted concrete (RCC) and gabion construction techniques results in low additional cost for the ...

Stepped Spillway Performance: Study of the Pressure and Turbulent Kinetic Energy versus Discharge and Slope
In the present study, flow over flat and pooled stepped spillways was simulated three dimensionally. The VOF method and k- ε (RNG) turbulent model was used to simulate the flow over the stepped spillway. The results indicated that the numerical model was acceptably capable of simulating the flow over the pooled and flat stepped spillways for different discharges. Following that, the effect of d...

Recently the stepped spillways have been used as an appropriate solution for energy dissipation. In the present study, Siahbisheh dam spillway is simulated by using Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD), in which the Mixture method and Reynolds Stresses Model (RSM) turbulence model is used. In the first modeling series the over all steppes slope is constant. The number of the steps is increased to ...
